Let the festival begin

Tomorrow is the first day of our two day fest. The fest contains different competitions from dance to drama, advertising to finance and much more. While there was this festival even last year but I was too disinterested and lazy to attend all the programs or participate in them.
Although I am still not going to participate in them, I am going to try to attend them.Festivals have been an integral part in colleges since a long time. Every Year in our festival there is a German festival organized by the Department of german and their students(ie.us). While last year was about the famous German things(places, food, industries), this year we are going to do the exhibition on Berlin. There are many interesting places in Berlin we never knew about and this exhibition shows them. There are many models made by my classmates which are amazing. While many are putting hard work in projects , others are doing the groundwork.Funnily I have never seen such enthusiasm and hard work of students in college before.
This has been the story of last week where we are just discussing about projects without forgoing time, lectures and studies for a whole week in college. The two day festival is starting tomorrow and I hope it rocks or at least our exhibition must rock( Just kidding, everything must go smoothly for all activities and programs.Just hoping). Just to clear things, this post is not an advertisement for the festival(by the way it can be a great ad for it!!) but just an insight about college festivals for the new college students and the school students who would ave such festivals in your colleges. Nothing else to write so signing out.

A Window to Life

I realised that nowadays we have grown fond of observing and admiring the nature from the comfort of our house. The show of colours in the sky at the twilight, or in the morning, the  Sun rays passing through the clouds or spread over in the clear sky, the shapes of clouds, or the raindrops falling, or the rains approaching from the distance, captivates us. The twitter of birds, every sound of birds( other than pigeons of course!!) draws our attention. Be it the  Kingfisher or bharadwaj, bulbuls, nigtingales, parrots , dayals- if you are lucky you might hear them sing, or some fantails,  or the cute little squirrels that are seen right in front of our windows eating the almond fruit or the jambhool or the coconut flowers , their style leaves us amused and we go out of the way to observe them. The ghar or kite, circling around, with all the pigeons and crows trying hard to shoo it away with all their combined might is sight worth seeing.
As Milind mentioned in shibir, we are now aware of the trees growing and blossoming around us and the big difference that it has made to the quality of our walk. We can appreciate the beauty of the blossoming laburnum, the Kanchan, the Karanja, the gulmohur, the rain tree, or the fragrance of Kailaspati, chafa, anant, mogra, parijatak, madhumalati or ratrani or for that matter fragrance of mango mohur. All these trees are seen in ample around our Pandurang wadi
A few days back, Saniya came running with the news that a Red Pierrot was sitting on our Tulsi Plant. We were all so happy and exited we clicked the photos from diff angles. Then again one day there was another butterfly seen on flowers in our flower bed and all of us enjoyed seeing it having a breakfast in our house! We have constructed a flower bed and planted plants which will attract butterflies. The rest of the people in our building have converted this space into additional living room area. We are really happy that we did not feel the need to do so in place like Mumbai where every inch is utilised for living space. The pleasure of gardening, of seeing the plants grow and blossom ,  the lessons from the nature are all worth it.
Isn't this Life?

After a long long time

bamboo pit viper
Sorry for not contributing for a long time. After a really long wait I went to yeoor,on a sunday morning. August had set in well, and made its presence felt by putting bursts of light showers which interupted that pleasant sunshine. At every corner there was something new, something unexpected and something more adventurous than previous waiting. Like a bamboo pit viper (which another group had rescued) hanging and curling itself against those green branches which mask his presence. Or a blue oakleaf, flying past as it flashes its blue upperwings, making it hard to miss it.

Good Times at MMB

Yesterday was the end of two exhibition at Max-Mueller Bhavan(MMB). The exhibition was organized by an organization named Mathematikum(An German organization which organizes exhibition about maths around the word) of Mathematics for school kids(6th to 10th Std children).I had volunteered for the exhibition for the first week(it was from 23th july to 3rd august). Everyday schools would bring children to see the exhibition and we had to take games of maths and tell them about the principle behind the game.
The games were not only interactive but challenging also(on some even we were clueless).Interacting with many students learning in different languages and coming from different background was an experience. Travelling by train to churchgate for a week was fun but tiring sometimes.
Overall an awesome week ended and I am back to my daily schedule(and college).Signing out

My path of failure and success........

Hi,

Everyone in this world faces failure and success in their own life in different ways. It is said that failure and success are two sides of the same coin. Failure helps us to grow and takes us towards success. Something like this happened to me, which I want to share with you.
Each and every school has its own prefectorial body. In our school we have the head boy or the head girl and house captains for our 4 houses. Last year, the students of grade 7th and 8th were allowed to stand for the elections. More than 25 children from my class gave their name, out of which only 8 were selected and I was one of them. Our principal along with the committee members took our personal interview. Out of 8 of us only 3 of us were nominated and were going to stand for the elections and to my amazement I was one of them. As soon as the names were declared we all started campaigning, making charts and posters. I enjoyed a lot. It was my first experience. The day of the elections arrived and all the students from grade V to VIII assembled in our school hall. The two candidates along with me gave a speech. The voting took place and results were announced on the same day. I lost by a margin of just 10 votes. I was heartbroken and started crying. When I came home Aai and Baba explained me the path of Success and failure and told me that there is always a next chance and participation and giving your best is more important than wining. After this failure I came to know that I am capable enough to hold such a big post. One more thing that made me feel capable was that the girl who won the elections came to me and said that she felt that I was more deserving and should have become the head girl. One more thing that I learnt from this episode that people can always change hands. I thought all my friends who are there with me since my first standard will obviously vote for me, but it didn’t happen this way, because they were actually jealous of me being selected. I had chance of becoming the House Captain but I failed in that too.
This year once again the students of grade VIII and IX were allowed for the elections. I gave my name and was selected. This time my interview also went very well. One of the teachers who was part of the interview committee said that our Principal liked my spirit of participation again (after a failure) as well as my interview very much. I was nominated for the elections. This year one of my friend from our group was also nominated and there were 5 candidates in all. Once again we made charts and did campaigning. This year I enjoyed more Advait was also excited and wanted to help me in making charts and campaigning. Many of Advait’s classmates have their elder siblings in the higher grades so Advait told all his friends to tell brothers or sisters to vote for me. The night before the elections was very exciting. I was calling all my friends and telling them to vote for me. Amod (Antarkar)I is also in my school. That night I called him and told him to tell all his friends to vote for me. With full confidence he told me,”tu kahi kalaji karu nakos sagale tulach vote karnar aahet, aani tujha kam houn jael(Don’t worry at all,all are going to vote for you and your work will be done).”On the day of the elections my speech was excellent. Baba had written it for me.
After the elections in the Recess many children from V and VI came to me and said that I don’t have to worry because all the children from their class have voted for me. I was getting more and more excited. The same day the results were Declared and “I HAD LOST AGAIN” but this time I was not very sad as I was happy that so many students from the whole school know me. Even now after so many weeks, children from lower classes come and say to me “I have voted for you” and when I hear this I feel very nice. This year once again I had an option to stand for the post of House captain but I didn’t. Not because I was afraid of failure but wanted to become the Head Girl next year. At home there was a big discussion on whether I should stand for House captain or withdraw my name.(if I win the post for House captain this year I will not get chance to stand for the post of Head Girl any time ).I finally ended up in withdrawing my name as I( always  ) wanted to become the Head Girl next year. If I lose the election for Head Girl than I get another chance to become the House Captain.
This was an excellent experience and will never forget in my life.

This was my path of failure which I hope will reach success next year...........

Avani.

monsoon sunday

On Sunday morning while I was walking on the terrace of my
building near my plants I went there to give biodegradable garbage to the plants as they grow well . While giving the garbage to the plants .I sow that a beautiful butterfly was roaming around me I was very happy to see the butterfly as it was our new guest, after transferring the plants to the terrace .At that time I was not having my camera with me . I went down and brought my camera to click some pictures of our new guest . After bringing the camera it started raining heavily . I thought that the butterfly will go away in search of shelter to protect itself from getting wet , I also went in search of shelter to protect my camera from getting wet , after waiting for a long time the rain was getting heavier and heavier. I went in the rain and clicked some pictures , the name of the butter fly is (female striped Albatross), this butterfly looks very much like common albatross . However the common Albatross is an inhabitant of dry deciduous forest but the striped Albatross is found in evergreen or semi evergreen forest . One more new guest was present there while I was clicking the photos of the butterfly ,there was an insect, I am searching the name of that insect .
I and Baba went to drop Ishwari in the shibir . while traveling Aai remember that the plant wild lantana is required for our shibir garden, we went on the hills in search of the plant , we found the plant on kharghar hills,Aai took a stem of the plant , at that time I sow a beautiful butterfly flying around , luckily I was having my camera with me, after clicking pictures of the butterfly I was very happy  because  he allowed me to click photo as it was not charged . the name of the butterfly is (common Albtross). The common albatross is a forest insect mostly seen in monsoon season.
At evening we all went to see the waterfall (pandav kada) in Kharghar, away from danger zone. There I found a dragonfly and a frog
we  flowed the origami boats in a small stream . I have clicked some photos of the pandav kada. After coming home I thought that the butterfly is still there I went there with my camera but it was not there , while thinking about the butterfly I looked up towards the sky, I  was very happy to see the sky I have clicked some pictures of the sky .

A True Friend

Hi guys! We recently had a poetry writing competition in our school. One of the topics was “Friendship” and we had to write a poem on the spot. This being the last year of my school life, I will be missing my school friends very much so wrote a poem dedicating it to one of my friend. I hope you will enjoy it.
                                             A True Friend

Friends are a must in life,
They are the ones who make you feel nice.
I too have some friends who are rational & wise ,
They are the ones whom I will remember throughout my life.

I still remember my first day of school,
Not letting go of my mother’s hand,
I was crying like a fool!
Then I saw a girl very strong and firm,
She was very enthusiastic and curious because new things we were going to learn.

I was very shy and an introvert
I never thought that my life like that would invert,
And today she has become my soul, which is inert.

Along all these years,
From her many things I have learnt,
All of my shyness & fear she has burnt.
She came into my life like a passing current.

She used to scold me on my mistakes,
And fight and shout,
When she did this all I would do is pout,
And does she really love me was what I would doubt.

But when we were alone she would give me a tight hug,
And then she would lend me a coffee mug,
Chatting the whole night we would lightly snug.
I thought that the whole life to each other we would tug.

But now we have to part
And go different ways apart
We promise each other that we will meet again,
But for that many of our dreams we’ll have to bargain

But whenever in my life it will start to rain,
You will be the first person I will remember, my FRIEND,
And these lovely days I would love to line again...

Return from the best Camp ever

Its great to be back in Mumbai. The Camp was wonderfully organized and not for a second I felt bored(which I normally do).I am not quite happy that no one except Sarvesh(good work man)contributed on the blog(I mean the teenagers).I guess no one opened the blog to see the challenge set by me.
The International Youth Camp organized by the Goethe Max-Mueller Bhavan was without doubt the best camp I have ever visited. It was really a global camp.8 from Pakistan,2 from Afghanistan, 4 from Coimbatore, 3 from Sri Lanka, 2 from Mohali ,2 from Nepal, 4 from Chandigarh , many many people from Delhi and a lone ranger from Mumbai had participated in the camp. While Indians may be more in number, but other countries made their presence felt by their enthusiasm. My roommates were the two Sardars from Mohali. Funnily these were over-punctual Sardars( They used to wake me atleast half an hour before our sir used to come to give us the wake up call). Overall the punjabi population was more but in their domination I found 3 really good(non punjabi) friends. Aryaman Dubey(Delhi),Qasim Mujtaba(Karachi) and Milad Ahmad(Kabul). We were 4 really different people, from different areas and still became great friends. This was the beauty of the camp. Teachers used to talk with us in german always(I mean literally)and asked us to do the same. They used to dance with us on Dj nights( which were everyday) and used to have mischief with us( We forced Dhruv sir into doing mujra).By the way all teacher were 25-35 so were young enough for us to trouble them(Our main teacher used to come and stop the DJ night at 11 and we used to play 'Abhi na jao chodh kar'). On the last day nearly everyone was misty eyed and many people were having tears in their eyes, knowing that not many would meet them again.Today while leaving even always joking Qasim was upset (He had said that he didn't know whether he would be able to come India again, you know the issues right).
While I have returned to Mumbai now,the very thought that the camp has ended haunts me. I hope that someday I will meet them again and have the same(or if possible more) fun together.Signing out-

Divya's Song

Hey Friends,

Am sharing a poem with you, which Divya had shared with us 3-4 years back.  Divya, if you are reading this, do once again sing it for us.

//Aao milkar ped lagaye//
 Hara bhara ye desh banaye
vatavaran ko svacha banakar//

Ped na koi katne paye
jungle ab na ghatne paye
milker hum sab kasam ye khaye
aao milker ped lagaye//

Ped hai dete pranvayu
jeevan inse ho deerghayu
khud samjhe auron ko bataye
aao milker ped lagaye//

har ek ka yeh farz hai banta
kum se kum ek ped lagaye
pal pal badhte pradooshan par
aao milker rok lagaye//

Aao milker ped lagaye //

:-)
