Hi everybody,

I am writing this blog to share my memories about my trip to Europe.

On the first day when we reached the hotel and the the fire alarm started ringing what a welcome to us then the hotel manager told  us to sit on the street with the baggage. on the first day of sight seeing we visited to Swami Narayan Mandir. After that we saw Big Ben the huge clock tower from a distance.  Then we went London Eye a huge giant wheel from which we could see a huge area of London city. We  even saw Eiffel Tower from top cart of Big Ben.  Then we saw Bukingham palace offcial residence of royal family.  once the queen is dead they will announce it from the balcony, and will say as long live the king, not a single minute without the royal family authourity.  There were many types of flowers around whole area and big squirrels and piegeons were all around.  We saw many cherry trees there.  

Then we went to Paris the capital of France and we saw Eiffel tower.  We went on the top floor that is third floor of the tower.  This was built for some exhibition in Paris but it was so beautiful that people of Paris decided to retain it,  and now it is one of the seven wonders of the world.  Then  at night we went to Lido show I didn't like it so much.  Then we went to EuroDisney.  In whole of the Europe the climate often changes and there it was raining. We went right inside the Adventure zone and in one of the rides of Indian Jones we were very scared as the roller coaster was  moving upside down in a full circle.  We could enjoy only four five rides as it is so huge that it takes 3 to 4 months to enjoy all the rides.  

Then we went at Belgium there we saw Maniquinn Pissa means a boy doing soo soo.  On that day it was Navy day so they draped navy boy dress to the staute.  Our tour company offered us waffles. There was a different varieties of waffles.  We purchased our Belgium chocolates  there.

We went to Switzerland.  We climbed mount Jungfrau and mount Titalis there.  I liked  mount Titalis the most as Jungfrau is very high and there is less oxygen so three girls from our group fainted.  At Titalis we played with snow and we saw two snowmen. We rolled over in the snow with my mom and dad.  In the soft snow my leg went deep inside upto my knee length what a fun it was. In whole of the Switzerland watches were very costly.  

We went to Venice the capital of Italy where there was cyclonic rains due to which the whole city tour was cancelled even the Gondola ride (the boat ride of the city.)  We could barely see the glass factory.  There many beautiful artefacts made of glass.  There was a lot of breeze and chilling cold in the city.  While going back from Venice to Florence the boat it was shaking so abdly as if it was going to drown.  All of us were very much scared but our Thomas Cook group of 44 people was so good that throughout journey of 45minutes we were singing songs of rains and sea and we reached safely at florence.  At Florence we saw the Gladiator fight stadium.  We saw statues of Herculus,  Persius and many Gods of the Romans.  We saw many Ferraris there.  In whole of Europe we saw many beautiful cars like Lamborgini, Masserita and many convertible cars.

We saw leaning tower of Pisa and clicked many snaps as we are pushing it down.  It is leaning because it is in the center of the axial direction.

We went to Vatican City where we saw many paintings done by Micheal Angelo the artist who was spreading Christianity. These paintings are from Bible.  They are very well maintainted. Ladies are not allowed to wear sleeveless tops and legs should be fully covered as it is the holy place of the Rome.

Me and mom have tried to cover most of the tour but few places are missing as it was all the time sight seeing for long 15 days.
I made many friends there like from Nashik, Pune and Aurangabad.  We had great time there.

हे वेड मजला लागले !

कोकणात आमच्या गावाला मी लहानपणी पुष्कळदा गेलो आहे. उन्मेषच्या वयाचा असताना तर मे महिन्याच्या सुटीत कोकणात जाऊन आंबे खाणे आणि सोंगट्या खेळणे हाच कार्यक्रम असे.

रात्री अंगणात सोंगट्या खेळून झाल्यावर रायवळ आंब्याची टोपली पुढ्यात घेऊन, ते चोखून खाण्याची मजा औरच होती. माझ्याबरोबर माझ्याच वयाचे दोनचार चुलत भाऊ असत. दुपारी  रहाटाचे पाणी अंगावर घेत दोणीवर आमची सामुदायिक आंघोळ होई आणि नुसता धिंगाणा चाले. मुंबईहून आठ दहा दिवस राहायला आलेल्या मुलांचे लाड होत. 

बरोबर कोणी नसले तरी कोकणात जाण्याचा माझा नेम चुकत नसे. मी एकटाच जाई. हातात काठी घेऊन तिथल्या सड्यावर, आन्गारात मळ्यात पुळणीत फ़िरे. रहाट, गुरे ह्याचे मला अप्रूप  होते. जोडीला तेथील दुकानात काम करणे आणि रानोमाळ भटकणे, तिथे क्वचित आढळणाऱ्या सापाबद्द्दल कुतूहल आणि भीती वाटे. 

आता उन्मेशबरोबर गेलो तेव्हा त्याला रहाट दाखवता आला नाही. सर्व विहिरीवर पंप बसले आहेत. आंबे टोपलीत घेऊन खातात हे त्याला कधी अनुभवता आले नव्हते. त्याची मात्र त्याला फारच मजा आली. 

पण माझ्या एक गोष्ट लक्षात आली, सभोवती इतके पक्षी असताना लहानपणी त्या कडे आम्ही  ढुंकून बघितले नव्हते. या खेपेला उन्मेष पक्षीच काय फुलपाखरे कीटक सारे काही बघत होता आणि मीही !!!

वीसेक वर्षांपूर्वी कदाचित तिथे आजच्या पेक्षा जास्त वन्यजीवन असणाऱ, नव्हे होतेच. पण एक लक्षवेधी असा, खास कोकणात दिसणारा 'धनेश' पक्षी सोडला, (ज्याला तिथे गरुड म्हणत, आजही म्हणतात) तर बाकी पक्ष्याचे निरीक्षण केलेलं आठवत नाही. 

या वेळी मात्र पक्ष्यांच्या किमान चाळीस जाती दिसल्या  त्या पूर्वी कधी असूनही दिसल्या नव्हत्या. 

हे कशामुळे झाले असावे?

 मी, आई आणि माझे बाबा असे आम्ही तिघेजण गावाला गेलो होतो. आमचे गाव हे राजापूर तालुक्यात आहे. आम्ही संध्याकाळी ठीक ६:३० वाजता गावात पोचलो. तिकडे गेल्यागेल्या मी पक्षी बघण्यासाठी बाहेर पडलो.पण काळोख झाल्यामुळे मला एकही पक्षी दिसला नाही. म्हणून मी घरी आलो आणि घरीच time pass केला. रात्री आम्ही जेवलो आणि लगेचच झोपी गेलो. 

                                 दुसऱ्या दिवशी मला बाबांनी ठीक ६ वाजता उठवले. मी लगेच उठलो. आम्ही दोघांनी सगळ आवरल आणि गच्चीत फोटो काढायला गेलो. तर मला तिकडे खूप पक्षी दिसले. आम्ही दोघे गच्चीत एक तास होतो. मला तिकडे सुगरण पक्षी दिसला. नंतर आम्ही खाली  फिरायला गेलो. ते साडेबारा वाजता परत आलो. घरी आल्यावर मी थोडी विश्रांती घेतली आणि जेवायला बसलो. जेवून झाल्यावर मी आमच्या खोलीत गेलो. आणि आज कोणकोणते पक्षी पहिले त्याच्या नोंदी केल्या. आणि थोडा वेळ झोपलो. नंतर मी परत पक्षी बघायला गेलो. ते एकदम रात्री ७:३० ला घरी गेलो. असाच माझा दिनक्रम होता. 

                               तिसरया दिवशी आम्ही बारा गावाची ग्रामदेवता पाहायला गेलो होतो आणि मोगरा देवतेच्या देवळात गेलो होतो. तिकडन आम्ही बाबांच्या मावशीकडे जेवायला गेलो होतो. जेवून झाल्यावर आम्ही लगेचच घरी गेलो. गेल्यागेल्या मी camera घेऊन फिरायला गेलो. ते रात्री आलो. आणि पंप लावून पाईपाच्याखाली अंघोळ केली. हे पाणी फुकट न जाता झाडांना मिळेल अशी तिथे सोय करून ठेवली आहे.  त्यानंतर आम्ही जेवलो. रात्री १०:०० वाजता गाडीने बाहेर फिरायला गेलो

. आम्ही खरतर कोणता प्राणी दिसतो का ते पाहायला गेलो होतो. पण त्यावेळी खूप वाहतूक होती. त्यामुळे आम्हाला प्राणी दिसले नाहीत. म्हणून आम्ही घरी आलो आणि झोपलो. 

                                 चौथ्या दिवशी आम्ही तिघेजण सड्यावर तीन बुरुज पहायला गेलो होतो. आम्ही तीन बुरुजाला वळसा घालून आलो. आम्ही प्रथम समुद्राच्या काठावर गेलो. तिथे आम्हाला otters दिसले. वर येताना आम्ही ससा पहिला. थोडे पुढे गेल्यानंतर आम्ही रानकोंबड्यांची एक जोडी पहिली. दुपारी आम्ही दोणीत आंघोळ केली.  दोणी म्हणजे दगडाची पाण्याची टाकी. खूप मज्जा आली. 

आम्ही संध्याकाळी विजयदुर्ग किल्ल्यावर गेलो. वाटेतच आम्हाला टकाचोर (tree pie) दिसला पण त्याचा फोटो मला काढता आला नाही. म्हणून आम्ही आगेकूच केले. आम्हाला गाडीने किल्ल्यावर पोचण्यासाठी पाऊण तास लागला. तिकडे गेल्यावर आम्ही प्रथम मुख्या दरवाजा पहायला गेलो. तिकडून आम्ही समुद्राचे आणि  एकमेकांचे फोटो काढले. आमच्यासोबत माझा दादा सुद्धा होता.  नंतर आम्ही तटबंदीवरून फिरलो. तिथून तर सुंदर असा सागर आम्हाला दिसत होता. आम्ही भुयारी मार्ग पाहिला. त्याच्यातून आम्ही पलीकडे गेलो सुद्धा. तो खूपच छोटा होता. तो किल्ल्यातच संपत होता. आम्ही तटावर चढून पुढे चालायला लागलो. पुढे गेल्यावर तटबंदीचे काम चालू आहे हे दिसल्यावर आम्ही तिकडेच थांबून एकमेकांचे फोटो काढले. तेथे एक माणूस गळ फेकून मासे पकडण्याचा प्रयत्न करीत होत. पण त्याला काही ते जमले नाही. कारण तो गळ फेकला की लगेच तो मागे खेचायचा. तो थोडावेळसुद्धा थांबायचा नाही. आम्ही परत निघालो. कारण काळोख व्हायला आला होता. घरी पोचायला पाऊण तास लागणार होता. आम्ही अर्धाच किल्ला पाहिला. पुढचा आपण परत येऊ तेव्हा बघू असे ठरवले. घरी पोचल्यावर आम्ही भजी खालली आंबे खाल्ले आणि थोडावेळ गप्पा मारून झोपलो. कारण आम्हाला दुसऱ्या दिवशी सकाळीच मुंबईला परत जायचे होते.

        पाचव्या दिवशी आम्ही लवकर उठलो आणि निघालो. जाताना आम्ही दोन देवळात गेलो. तिथून आम्ही रत्नागीरी येथे माझ्या एका काकाच्या घरी जाऊन आलो. त्यांच्यासोबत आम्ही त्यांनी लावलेली झाडे पाहायला गेलो. रस्त्यावर सर्वांना सावली मिळावी म्हणून त्याने दोन हजार झाडे लावण्याचे ठरवले आहे. तिकडेच एक जुन्या काळची उतरायला पायऱ्या असलेली विहीर पाहिली. पण तेथे आई पडली. म्हणजे तिचा पाय मुरगळला. त्यामुळे तिला खूप दुखत होते. थोड्यावेळाने आम्ही परत त्या काकाच्या घरी गेलो. आम्ही तिकडेच जेवलो. आणि ३ वाजता मुंबईला यायला निघलो. घरी येण्यासाठी रात्रीचा १ वाजला. 

         एकूण मी तिकडे जाऊन फक्त पक्षी पाहिले, आंबे हाणले आणि दोणीत आंघोळ केली. हया पाच दिवसात मला खूप मज्जा करता आली.

  A progress took place at my house. Common jay had layed eggs,after the disappearance of two catterpillar for unknown reasons,the remaining three survived to turn green(which is the second or third stage). Despite bringing the plant indoor,the disappearance of two more caterpillars,remains a mystry. the last surving caterpillar,did survive made a cocoon. 10 days later it emerged.

Bonjour friends! Anagha here. As we had the session on Amitabh Bachchan the other day, I would like it if you'll read this poem, which he has written himself, as a tribute to the Delhi gang rape victim, Damini. It reflects the deep thought that he has given regarding the incident not only from the outside but also from her point of view. It is a very moving poem and one can see that he has certainly inherited the art of writing poems from his poet father, Harivanshrai Bachchan... It goes like this...

माँ  बहुत  दर्द सहकर ... बहुत  दर्द देकर

तुझसे कुछ  कहकर, मैं  जा  रही हूँ ....

आज मेरी बिदाई में  जब  सखियाँ  मिलने आएँगी

सफेद जोड़े में लिपटी  देख, सिसक-सिसक मर जाएँगी

माँ  तू  भैया को रोने न देना

मैं साथ हूँ हर पल  , उनसे कह देना

माँ पापा भी छुप-छुप के बहुत रोएँगे

 I have not contributed to the blog from a long time & I feel bad about it. Soooo.....

coming back to my topic, I'm sure you people must be aware about the celebrations that take place on Sunday,on  the 20th of April. Easter is celebrated on this day. 

Easter is a celebration  of the ressurection of Jesus.There is a custom of gifting eggs( both the chocolate & the shell of the hard-boiled ones). The custom of giving eggs at Easter celebrates

new life. Christians remember that Jesus, after dying on the cross, rose from the dead. This miracle showed that life could win over death.For Christians the egg is a symbol of Jesus' resurrection, as when they are cracked open they stand for the empty tomb.Eggs were always thought to be special because although they do not seem alive, they have life within them especially at springtime when chicks hatch out.

Lata Aaji asked me to paint some eggs for Easter & so I got to the job. I had so much fun painting them!!! 

So, going with the custom, I just visualized myself breaking these eggs( because I did not dare break them...) and I made....

....a collage!!!!

There are some really cool things you can do with the eggshells that I have not tried yet, like-

a mini plantation!

&

many other such things....

I never really celebrated Easter, but this year I certainly enjoyed myself!!!!

विद्याताईंविषयी...

sorry, मी तुम्हाला गेल्या महिन्यांत म्हटले होते की, मी विद्याताईबद्दल मला जी माहिती आहे, मला काय वाटते, ते ब्लॉगवर टाकेन, पण शेवटी आज लिहायला बसले. मधल्या काळात वेगाने काही घाटन घडल्या, त्यात राहून गेलं. गेल्या महिन्यात निखिल कामानिमित्त स्वीडनला गेला. त्याच दिवाशी  माझ्या नव्या मासिकाचे- वयम्- प्रकाशन झाले. गेल्या आठवड्यात मल्लिका अचानक स्वीडनला गेली. खूप धावपळ करून ५ दिवसंत तिचा विसा केला. ती स्वीडन आणि नेदरलंड ला जाऊन १७ मे रोजी येईल. ती येतान एकटीने प्रवास करणार आहे. असो... मुख्य म्हणजे मी पत्रकार आहे, आणि डेडलाईन उभी ठाकल्याशिवाय माझ्या हातून काम पूर्ण होत नाही. आता विद्याताई परवा भेटणार म्हटल्यावर आज लिहायला बसले. मनापासून सॉरी.. उशीर केल्याबद्दल---

विद्याताई या महाराष्ट्रातील स्त्री-वादी चळवळीच्या प्रणेत्यापैकी एक. १९६४-६५ पासून त्या `स्त्री' मासिकाच्या संपादनात होत्या. १९७५ पासून महाराष्ट्रात स्त्री-मुक्ती चळवळ सुरू झाली.  त्यांत अग्रणी होत्या- शारदा साठे, छाया दातार, ज्योती म्हापसेकर, विद्या बाळ, नीलम गोर्हे.. अशा काही जणी. चळवळीच्या माध्यामातून त्याचे स्त्रीवादी काम ठिकठिकाणी चालू असताना त्यानी १९९० च्या सुमारास` मिळून साऱ्याजणी' हे मासिक सुरू केले. सुरुवातीपासून त्या `संवाद' नावाने संपादकीय लिहू लागल्या. त्यांच्या या संवादातून त्यानी स्त्रीमुक्तीचा नवा पैलू मांडला. त्यावेल स्त्री-मुक्ती म्हणजे पुरुषांवर आगपाखड, पुरुषांना विरोध, त्यांची अवहेलना असे काहीसे मत समाजात तयार झाले होते. विद्या बाळ यांनी ते खोडून काढले. त्यानी स्त्रियांचे अनेक प्रश्न मांडले. तिच्या कामाचे मोल, तिलाही आराम हवा, तिला सुपरवुमन का करायचे, अंधश्रद्धामुळे स्त्रीचे शोषण कसे होते, तिचा लैगिक छळ, तिला सत्तेपासून दूर ठेवणे... असे कितीतरी प्रश्न त्या मांडत गेल्या. आणि हे करताना समाजाला- स्त्री-पुरुष सर्वाना अपील करत गेल्या, की पुरुष-स्त्री भेद सोडा, पण माणूस म्हणून विचार करा की हे योग्य चाललाय का! स्त्री-पुरुष दोघांनीही माणूसपण जपावं, ते वाढवत न्यावं- असे त्या मांडत गेल्या. त्याची भूमिका कायम लिंग-समभाव रुजवणे ही होती. स्त्रिया आणि  पुरुषही लिन्ग्विषयक stereotypes मध्ये अडकलेल्या असतात. ते दूर ठेऊन आपण सहृदयता आणि वैचारिक प्रगल्भतेने वाटचाल केली तर समाज म्हणून पुढे जाऊ शकू- हे त्या वारंवार सांगतात. समतेचा विचार ठामपणे तरी संयतपणे कसा मांडायचा याचा वस्तुपाठ विद्याताईनी घालून दिला आहे. म्हणून मला त्यांच्याविषयी कृतज्ञता वाटते. त्या फक्त लिहून थांबल्या नाहीत, तर राज्यभर ठिकठिकाणी सखी मंच स्थापन करून महिलांना एकत्रित केले. त्यांचे कृतीशील प्रबोधन केले. त्यांचा पुरुष उवाच गटही कार्यरत आहे, ज्यात समतावादी पुरुष एकत्र येतात. आज वयाच्या ७५ नंतरही त्या राज्यभर फिरत असतात, सतत कार्यशील असतात. त्या मनाने टवटवीत आहेत. त्यांचे व्यत्कीमत्त्व प्रेरणादायी आहे. स्पष्ट विचार, ओघवती भाषा आणि नेमकी मांडणी यामुळे त्यांचे बोलणे सर्वसामान्य ग्रामीण महिलेपासून उच्चशिक्षितांपर्यंत सर्वाना समजते, भावते.
लताआजीनी त्यांना शिबिरात बोलावल्यामुळे आपल्याला एक अपूर्व संधी मिळत आहे.

NO SOLUTION IS THE FUN SOLUTION !!!

हल्ली पहिल्या आणि तिसऱ्या रविवारी सकाळी ११ ते १ “CHAI AND WHY?” हा सुरेख, कल्पक कार्यक्रम असतो. ह्या कार्यक्रमाच्या दर session ला सध्या चर्चिला जाणारा विषय घेउन त्याच्यामागच विज्ञान TIFR  चे scientist खूप छान प्रकारे, साध्या माणसाला कळेल अशा पद्धतीने PPT च्या सहाय्याने समजावून सांगतात. ब्रेकमध्ये चहा असतो. खूप मजा येते. खूप नवीन माहिती मिळते. पहिल्या रविवारी हा कार्यक्रम पृथ्वी थेटरला असतो तर तिसऱ्या रविवारी रुपारेल कॉलेजमध्ये.

लोकांना science ची गोडी लावणे हे स्वतःचे कर्तव्य मानून हे TIFR  चे scientist मोफत हा कार्यक्रम राबवतात.

ज्यांना विज्ञानाची आवड असेल त्यांनी नक्की 

या धम्माल कार्यक्रमाला येत जा. आम्हाला खात्री आहे.की तुम्ही हा कार्यक्रम नक्की मनापासून एन्जॉय कराल.

 मी(मल्लिका) आणि स्वानंदी बऱ्याचदा ह्या कार्यक्रमाला जातो. गेल्या रविवारचा विषय होता,”WHERE NO SOLUTION IS THE FUN SOLUTION !!” (PROBLEMS WITHOUT SOLUTION).

आम्ही दोघींनीहीखूप एन्जॉय केल ते सत्र.

यातील 1,4,5 यांना सोडवता येत नाही व 3,4 ला सहज सोडवता यईल.

Reason:

We cannot draw some of the figures because there should be even number of lines emerging from each vertex in fig:1 there are 3, in fig:4 n 5 there are 5 lines each whereas in fig:2 n 3 there are 4 each.

 Me n Malika always look forward for the ‘TIFR- CHAI AND WHY?’ programs.We enjoyed the session thoroughly.

There were many other interesting problems. Although these could not be solved directly, thinking out of the box always worked! These problems are actually impossible to solve!

So, the next times we say ‘NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE’ there should be a ‘*’ stating conditions apply!!
