Last month on our Coorg trip, we had a driver Mr. Shanmugamum. A decent, well mannered, soft spoken, humble and kind personality. Frankly different from these days driver personality. Apart from his good driving ability, he had a knack of understanding the customer's need and making them comfortable. His vehicle and its upkeep spoke about him and his caring attitude. During our conversations, we realised that in his off hours, he takes care of his daughters studies, prepares egg dosa for his family, including his parents who stay with him.
On our last day, while driving we noticed a dog sitting in the middle of the road with traffic speeding from both sides. He slowed down and had a good look at the dog from his window and pulled the vehicle over the side. Without wasting a second, he got out and started walking towards it. I followed him. He was trying to push the injured dog on to the side of the road. We managed to get the dog on the roadside and then sprinkled some water on him. The dog as if, waiting for this help, got up and started walking away from the road. We were back on our journey. He was emotionally upset and later mentioned he cannot afford to see a animal die on the road and hence helped him to atleast get over on the side so that he will able to survive. This noble gesture touched us and could see a human heart behind the face which kept saying Thank You practically after every conversation.
In fact we thank him for this experience and human touch
