The post from Sudhanshu reminded me to post Saniya’s behaviour in the school bus.
About two-three years back I noticed that there used to be n number of wrappers of chocolates and wafers etc in Saniya’s school bag . She used to throw these in our dustbin at home. I was surprised because she strictly followed the discipline of not eating chocolates on the week days and eating of wafers too was quite rare. When asked about it she said that the children, travelling in the school bus threw the wrappers out of the bus window or in the bus. She requested them not to do so but they wouldn’t listen and so she told them to put the wrappers in her bag. These children, including her friends were happy with the solution and started dumping the wrappers in her bag.
After so many years the practice still continues. She has never complained. But the behaviour of the other children has not improved, though the number of children doing this has decreased marginally.
I also remembered an incidence few years back which was on my b'day. We had gone to National Park along with Saniyadidi to admire 'The Bamboo Flora'. It was green all over but as we were passing across on the road, we just stopped as we saw the garbage, litter spread all across on the plane. We got down from the vehicle and Saniyadidi rushed to collect the paper plates, wrappers and plastic and I joined her. I would always admire her attitude and got inspired with it.
