Reality behind reality shows

There are so many reality shows like indian idol for songs,d.i.d for dance and roadies or even some stars doing some swayamvar stuff. These reality shows are of different topics and for many people. Many of these shows are even made for specific kind of public .In last 10 years we have seen rise of these shows in terms of TRPs and growing popularity.Any channel we see have their own reality shows with sony having indian idol, zee tv having sa re ga me pa  and d.i.d and star having master chef. There are even shows like fear factor where people do crazy stuff like jumping from one place to other or eating bizarre things.Though sa re ga ma pa (the old one when sonu nigam was the host) was a nice program even it has become just drama where we see some mother or father of the contestant crying or judges shouting at each other. Many a times this is staged and just done to add garam masala to the otherwise boring show.
But this gives us entertainment. Now say, who does not like to see indian idol auditions or who has seen roadies and has not found it entertaining.Nowadays quality of the content is not considered very important. The content must bring in trps and increase popularity. After all ,who remembers the winner of the show after two months.
But the main question is that do we need this much entertainment?Do we need to vote for our favourite contestant and hope he wins? Do we need to get involved so much in reality shows which don't show us the reality?
What do you think ??Please give your opinion on the topic

  1. Even I agree with you. Reality-shows have become more of a drama where it is meant to be a medium to show your talents to the public as well as entertainment. People are going too far with the meaning of entertainment. Reality-shows feature anything but the reality!!
