reality shows--the unforgettable truth

sorry for the delay in my contribution to the blog this time, I will make sure that next time I will be on time.

So, i have viewed the posts on this topic recently and agree to most of the factors put forward by everyone.Reality shows have really empowered the audience with its aura and
grasped the attention of not only regular television viewers but also people whose priority lists never looked forward towards TV. The craze of these shows are multiplying and that is encouraging even more of these shows to broadcast. From my point of view people tend to watch these shows for passing time, few for gaining some knowledge, but mostly the competitive side of these shows lures all for watching them; the auditions, the voting, elimination are the main focus which keeps the show going on.
Shows like sa re ga ma ,master chef, etc put on a mask on themselves saying that you can hear quality music here, get new ideas to make recipes,(i am not denying we don't get these things but that is not the show's prime aim)but finally each of these end up to only competitions.Fear factors are yet another category in which courage and fear are the only two parts to it. Recently quite a number of reality shows have been broad casted. Each of the shows want their sustenance and their TRPs to fly up hence they try to exaggerate and bring special effects into them.
There are also some reality shows in exceptions like Satya Mev Jayate which I feel want to bring awareness in people about the situations the world is facing.Although such shows also make a mountain out of a molehill, at least they try to convey some message. But truly as Anagha had said in her post,it is a platform for all ages and hierarchy of people, and for some it could be a turning point in their lives.
A lifetime opportunity/settlement for some while crying and regretfulness for others, this is the way realityshows actually show up reality. There is no good or bad ,it depends on each ones opinions. I feel that reality shows are fun to see but don't dare to connect them to the reality of life.

  1. I agree to whatever you said in this post and its true that you shouldnt connect the reality of these shows to the reality of your life, and if you do you might end loosing your mind.

  2. Well written.
Medium of tv is meant basically for passive entertainment. Its impact is strong but of short duration.
