*Importance of Shibir.*
Even today, after being together for so
many years and sharing the responsibilities and obstacles for grooming our small
children, one tends to stand aloof. Why, I ask myself. Was the journey so
exclusive that it was limited &
restricted only to us?
Looking back, I find that it was never meant
to be so. We were always a small part of it. It was necessary to participate in
it together. The wholeness made it pleasurable as we all shared the same aims.
We, each were analyzed, answered and thus responded with efforts. The major
factor which held us together during those times was that we used to meet
regularly. We interacted amongst ourselves more frequently to discuss our common
problems.
Now we think, being left
out of this cohesive group will not be in the interest of our children. They
need to have confidence in us so that they can accept us and share their joys
and grief's with us.
After our children grew
up, we got detached from the other parents. Time and distance are always a
hindrance. Simultaneously, due to our shortcomings and lack of communication we
could not contribute in the teenage shibir. We believe that due to laziness, non
acceptance and non commitment we have further alienated ourselves from the
group.
We intend to make
conscious participation in the activities planned for the teenagers, interact
more by using the blog and share the experiences.
