My Views On Reality Shows & IPL

For last couple of years reality shows were the most discussed topics when TV watching was considered. Reality shows which were started were quite straight forward in their approach. Mere competition existed among the contestants. In the whole season, if not all, some fights used to take place it was due to sheer competition. Almost in every episode there is some or other argument, abusing each other. Most of viewers loved watching this.
Same goes with IPL. The hype is created so that more and more people watch these matches. According to me all these things relating to IPL such as match fixing, corruption, parties, misbehaviors etc. was associated since the 1st IPL season, but wasn’t brought to the notice of the people. Now it is more discussed and viewed by the people. I guess this is due to two reason: One, over the last year people have become more active against corruption issues, and two, to maintain viewers’ interest, to make them watch matches not for mere sake of entertainment, but to see what new controversies are there. Most of the viewers are so impatient that they only love to watch matches with nail biting finishes.
Unlike other reality shows, Satyamev Jayate is quite a unique reality show by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. It isn’t much of unwanted issues and fights, but covers all important issues rather than being interested in fight over petty issues. Although, most of the topics do not have a direct influence on our life but they do have an impact on the society as whole in which we live in, so I feel such programs should be encouraged but only to certain extent.

  1. Dear All,
Satyamev Jayate is a good show. 20-25 years back, noted hindi writer Kamleshwar used to have such kind of programme.
