This too is a post by Swanandee, published on my behalf:
Almost all reality shows have the remotest connection to reality, eg. Indian Idol, Comedy Circus, Bigg Boss, etc where the judges are eveready to totally dampen the enthusiasm of the participants, whereas shows like KBC and Satyamev Jayate are the total opposite.
In one episode of SJ Aamir Khan did something which pleased me a lot. One of the victims of child sexual abuse used to watch Sridevi’s movies during his difficult days, and would get inspired. Aamir not only invited the victim on the show and brought his case forward but also, moving a step ahead arranged the victims’s meeting with Sridevi which surprised as well as motivated him to forget the past and start a new life. In the next episode in which he took up the malpractices going on in the healthcare system, he suggested the doctors to stop the malpractices and to do the medical practice ethically. The medical community was enraged by the statement. Newspapers were storming with articles who clearly expressed the displeasure of the docs.
On the other hand there’s one part which I didn’t like. In the same episode, Aamir told all the aspiring doctors on the show that they should practice medicine not for the sake of money, but to do service to mankind. He himself earns well over Rs 3,00,000 for each episode, so I don’t really think he has the moral grounds to tell people not to work for money especially as he is not himself into that line of work.
Besides all this, there are many malpractices going on in his own line of work (Bollywood) like casting couch, etc. I wonder whether he has really given a lot of thought to the ugly aspects of his profession and I sure hope he brings it up in one of the future episodes.
Another reality show I quite enjoy watching is Kaun Banega Crorepati. Amitabh Bachhan hosts the show very beautifully. The interaction between him and the contestants and also the language he uses is very fluent. Young or old, every participant is treated with due respect. The way he handles an emotional or disappointing situation is outstanding. Also, this show is very transparent with no politics in it. It’s also very informative and is real fun to watch.

  1. Main mistake we are making is that its amir khan's serial. Its satyajit bhatkal's creation. Amir is only producer & anchor. Remember its commercial venture. Question of morality does not arise. Please dont take anything shown on tv too seriously.

  2. Hello
